In September 2018, the people of Thanet heard the devastating news that QEQM hadn’t made it onto the list of three hospitals earmarked for a new hyper-acute stroke unit.
Having campaigned consistently for QEQM to be considered as a site for one of the new stroke units, I’m furious. I raised this with the Shadow Secretary for Health and Social Care, Jonathan Ashworth, when a group of campaigners from Save Our NHS in Kent met him at the Labour Party’s annual conference.
In my monthly article for Isle of Thanet News, I urge everyone to sign the petition calling on East Kent’s health boss to think again, and join us to raise your voice in protest outside QEQM hospital at 12 noon on Saturday 6 October.
